Lead Safety Certification
US EPA Accredited Training in Lead Safety during
Renovation, Repair and Painting.

A one day training program, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (lunch provided)
Location: Lake Land College – Workforce Development Center
(West of Cross County Mall) 305 Richmond Avenue, East; Mattoon, IL
Background: The United States Environmental Protection Agency
mandates a certifi ed worker must implement safe guards to limit
harmful effects of lead during all renovations of residential and
childcare worksites built prior to 1978.
Who should attend: Employees who are responsible for renovations,
repairs and painting in homes and structures built before 1978.
Property managers who do work on affected buildings must also
become certified.
Instructor: Ron Sands conducts employee training in all levels of
emergency response, incident command, and an array of other OSHA,
DOT and Environmental Protection Agency topics. Ron’s credentials
include being a certifi ed Lead Paint Abatement Supervisor.

• Reasons for being concerned about lead paint
• US EPA Regulations concerning lead
• Worksite notifi cation requirements
• Assessing and preparing a site for EPA Compliance
• Methods to contain dust during work
• Effective work practices
• Methods of cleaning and checking the site
• Recordkeeping to satisfy EPA requirements
• Training non-certifi ed workers
• All information for preparing competent workers to achieve
US Environmental Protection Agency Lead Certifi cation.
Fee: $250 or $225 each for three
or more employees from same
organization.
